SLM Solutions Group AG is presenting a large number of new solutions at this year's formnext, the world's leading trade fair for additive manufacturing. SLM Solutions presented the SLM 800 for the first time in addition to further improvements in the tried and tested machines SLM 125 and SLM 280.
The SLM 800 was shown as a concept in an animated video last year, but was presented live at formnext 2017. The new machine concept enables integration into automated and fully automated production processes. Another highlight will be the Additive Designer, the company's own data processing software, which represents an alternative to established programs on the market with its enhanced performance scope for metal-based additive manufacturing.
"At formnext, SLM Solutions will again underline its reputation as a pioneer of additive manufacturing and introduce new developments with many solutions both with respect to detail as well as to a greater scope," Stefan Ritt explained, Head of Global Marketing and Communications at SLM Solutions Group AG. "We are pleased with the increasing interest in formnext and want to contribute to supporting the next generation of intelligent industrial production with our additive technology."
The first day at formnext 2017 was highly successful and the company scored a major order for 20 new machines of the type SLM 800. The machines are going to a customer from the energy sector with headquarters in Asia. In addition to the machines of the type SLM 800, systems of the type SLM 500 may also be ordered, which could further increase the order volume. The order for it is worth at least 37 million euros.
Uwe Bögershausen, board member of SLM Solutions Group AG, explains: "Technological integration into production processes has succeeded with the SLM 800. The SLM 800 is very convincing for our industrial customers. We are very pleased that we have been able to get such impressive confirmation of our development steps on the first day of the fair. The machines from this order will be continuously delivered until the end of 2019." Henner Schöneborn, board member of SLM Solutions Group AG, adds: "We have reached another milestone towards automation of manufacturing processes with the SLM 800. Technologically, we want to become the market leader thanks to total manufacturing integration with both existing factory and production processes as well as Industry 4.0 connectivity over the next few years. In addition to the size of the construction chamber, outstanding component quality and our market-leading multi-laser technology are the convincing and proven parameters for our customers."
