Renishaw Headquarters West Dundee Illinois

The new Renishaw US Headquarters and additive solutions center will be on display Wednesday, October 25 and 26 as Renishaw presents “Innovation Fest,” at its new facility in West Dundee, IL.

Innovation Fest is a two-day event celebrating 40 years of Renishaw’s technology breakthroughs, as well as the grand opening of the new US facility. A high-productivity machining cell, featuring integrated process control, will also be demonstrated, showing how high levels of automation and connectivity can be incorporated into CNC machining operations to improve productivity levels and process capability.

Renishaw’s new IPC (Intelligent Process Control) will also be on display. Process control can be achieved with closed-loop feedback using Equator™ gauging data to update offsets directly on machine tool controls. The gauging results can be easily read in real-time by IPC, which offers the ability to connect to many types of machine tools.

Innovation Fest attendees will get an up-close look at Renishaw’s industry-changing technology that is boosting manufacturing efficiencies and part quality in multiple industries, and Renishaw industry experts will make presentations on additive and smart manufacturing.

Speakers Include:

Paul Maxted - Director of Industrial Metrology Applications, Renishaw

Presentation title: Applying Innovation to High Volume CNC Machining

With more than 20 years' experience in Renishaw's UK manufacturing facilities, Paul was instrumental in developing the company's RAMTIC automated production system and the Productive Process Pyramid approach to process control. He is now responsible for the global applications of Renishaw technology into manufacturing organizations to resolve substantial production challenges, leading to improved process capability and productivity in their operations.

Dan Skulan - National Sales Manager, Renishaw

Presentation title: Applying Innovation to High Volume CNC Machining

Dan holds degrees in Electronics Technology, Industrial Manufacturing and Marketing and has over 30 years' experience with manufacturing process control as a user, integrator and supplier. Dan helps companies increase profitability through innovative problem-solving techniques that reduce scrap and improve equipment effectiveness in manufacturing environments. By evaluating the whole process through the unique Productive Process Pyramid, Dan applies technologies to overcome production bottlenecks.

Peter Zelinski - Editor-in-Chief, Modern Machine Shop & Additive Manufacturing Magazine

Presentation title: What effects will additive manufacturing have on CNC machine shops?

Peter Zelinski is the editor-in-chief of two publications, Modern Machine Shop magazine and Additive Manufacturing magazine. The latter is a publication he helped to launch in 2012 that is devoted not to 3D printing in general, but exclusively to industrial applications of additive processes. As part of the staff of Modern Machine Shop, Pete has written about manufacturing technology for 20 years. He has a degree in mechanical engineering from the University of Cincinnati, and he first learned about machining by running and programming machine tools in a metalworking laboratory within GE Aircraft Engines (now GE Aviation).

Robert Schoenberger - Editor, Today's Motor Vehicles Magazine

Presentation title: Auto Industry 2018: Upheaval equals Opportunity

Robert Schoenberger is the editor of Today's Motor Vehicles, a magazine dedicated to design and manufacturing topics within the automotive, commercial truck, and off-highway equipment markets. He has been an automotive journalist for nearly 20 years, having covered Nissan, General Motors, Toyota, Ford, Honda, Chrysler, Hyundai, and several Tier 1 and Tier 2 suppliers for newspapers in Mississippi, Kentucky, and Ohio. Before joining GIE Media to start Today's Motor Vehicles in 2013, Schoenberger spent six years the automotive industry reporter for The Plain Dealer newspaper in Cleveland.

Josh Norman - Product Manager, Additive Manufacturing NA at GKN Sinter Metals

Presentation title: Additive Manufacturing: Path to serial production for automotive

Josh is the North American Product Manager for metal additive manufacturing technology at GKN Sinter Metals. In this role he is responsible for utilizing powder bed AM technology to develop product-centric engineering solutions for the automotive industry. Josh joined GKN Sinter Metals in 2013. Prior to GKN, he was a research assistant in the Advanced Manufacturing Research Lab at Penn State where he received his M.S. in Mechanical Engineering.

Robert Chiari - East Coast Additive Manufacturing Regional Sales Manager, Renishaw

Presentation title: Collaboration and Additive Manufacturing using the Renishaw platform

Robert began his career over thirty years ago in R&D for a hi-tech commercial printing technology company. He was first introduced to 3D printing in 2000 by a colleague, and soon after joined then startup Objet Geometries Ltd, as the first U.S.-based employee. He later transitioned with the Objet product line holding several key roles at Stratasys, Inc., and then as Regional Sales Manager at Within Technologies; subsequently acquired by Autodesk. Recognizing the strength of manufacturing experience within Renishaw, and what it means for the advancement of Additive Manufacturing, Robert joined Renishaw in 2014.

The new headquarters and Solutions Center will be open for tours, and Renishaw representatives available for questions throughout the event.
