The National Center for Defense Manufacturing and Machining (NCDMM) is pleased to announce Rob Gorham will become the new America Makes Executive Director effective May 1, 2017, replacing Ed Morris. Ed will be retiring from NCDMM on May 31, 2017 and will continue to provide active transition support until his departure.
Rob joined NCDMM in February 2013 as the America Makes Deputy Director for Technology Development and has served for the past two and half years as the America Makes Director of Operations. Announcing Rob’s new role, Ralph Resnick, NCDMM President and Executive Director, noted, “Rob is eminently qualified to follow in Ed’s footsteps as the new America Makes Executive Director. Among his many accomplishments as a key member of NCDMM’s America Makes management team, Rob led the development of a robust member-driven additive manufacturing roadmapping methodology, and shaped and refined America Makes’ project call process that has resulted in a $97M research and development portfolio. Rob also led the NCDMM, Siemens, and Deloitte team in the creation of the America Makes Digital Storefront, an innovative PLM-based data management tool to access and consume America Makes’ intellectual capital assets.”
Prior to joining NCDMM, Rob was the Senior Manager for Advanced Manufacturing Systems and Prototyping as part of the Advanced Development Programs (ADP), also known as Skunk Works, at the Lockheed Martin Aeronautics Company in Fort Worth, TX. Rob has a Master of Science Degree in Engineering Management from Southern Methodist University and a Bachelor of Science Degree in Aerospace Engineering from Texas A&M University.
Announcing his retirement plan to NCDMM’s America Makes team, Ed shared that he intends to stay engaged in the additive manufacturing, and aerospace and defense communities, but at a leisurely pace. Everyone at NCDMM wishes Ed the very best.
